People Organizing to Demand Environmental and Economic Rights (PODER) launches new website

PODER used LEAP assistance to develop a new strategic plan that emphasized individual donor development in 2005. At the close of 2006, PODER graduated from the LEAP program with a successful marketing strategy that led to the launch of their own website...

In anticipation of its 15th anniversary in 2006, People Organizing to Demand Environmental and Economic Rights (PODER) set the goal of becoming a stronger organization that would be better able to fulfill its mission of improving its community-based problems through collective social action.

In early 2005, PODER sought assistance through ESC's Leadership and Enhanced Assistance Program (LEAP) to help them leverage the enthusiasm surrounding their upcoming anniversary by evaluating the organization's progress thus far and developing plans for future growth.  Through LEAP, PODER worked with a consultant to develop a three-year strategic plan that began in 2006.  The strategic plan was coordinated with a fundraising diversification plan that was inaugurated with celebrations for PODER’s anniversary and emphasized individual donor development.  PODER finished LEAP at the end of 2006, following the development of a new strategic plan and a successful marketing strategy.

Through our Training and Organizational Assistance program, PODER was able to complete a technology assessment that led to the official launch of their website in 2006.  Click here to find out more about the important work this organization does ( http://www.podersf.org ) .
